HCA Midwest Health's CareNow, an urgent care facility, is headed to Prairie Village Shops.
Where exactly? The new clinic will go into the renovated US Bank space at 6940 Mission Road.
- HCA officials say Johnson County's fifth urgent care facility expects a mid-December opening, barring any supply chain delays caused in part by COVID-19.
The attraction at Prairie Village: Christine Hamele, media relations representative for HCA Midwest, said the rationale for expanding HCA's Johnson County footprint in Prairie Village is twofold.
- First, many members of the HCA team — including Hamele — live or grew up in Prairie Village, he said.
- Hamele said the Prairie Village location feels like a “homecoming” for those with connections to the city, and there is a strong desire to serve and care for the community.
- Additionally, Hamele said the region lacks urgent care facilities of this nature.
- The last thing families want to do when a child or parent is hurt is drive across town to an urgent care — and now they won't have to, he said.
Key quote: “We've been looking at this market for some time and talking to the community and talking to the other businesses there,” Hamele said. “They welcomed us with open arms because they really felt there was a need, because there was a gap in this area for health care services. It was a great fit and this location became available.”
CareNow Services: Mary Devers, HCA's CareNow medical director, said the location will offer a variety of urgent care services.
- This will include patients who need to be screened for COVID-19, flu, injuries, sports physicals, rashes and more.
- In addition, the Prairie Village location will offer online check-in, meaning patients can sign up to be seen via text message, complete their registration online and wait at home until they are second or third in line up to see them, Devers said.
- Online enrollment streamlines the process for both CareNow and patients, he said.
What else at US Bank but HCA Urgent Care
This is the second known tenant in the renovated US Bank space at the Shops of Prairie Village.
