Sunshine is in store for many cities that have had cloudy skies for the past week and for much of January.
That may come as a relief to many Americans who have hit the first month of 2024 under a blanket of gray and gloom.
The FOX Forecast Center selected a few cities to show how cloudy, partly cloudy and mostly cloudy their January was.
At the top of the list is Buffalo, which has seen 31 days of cloudy skies. This means that the city was cloudy every day in January.
The city has seen between 80 and 100% cloud cover. In fact, 22 of those days were 100% cloudy.
It's next Cleveland, with 26 cloudy days in January. Cleveland has also been about 100% cloudy since January 23rd.

Another Midwestern town, Detroit, also saw 100% cloudy skies during the same period. The Motor City experienced 24 days of cloudy skies in January.
For comparison, Seattlefamous for clouds and dark skies, had slightly less cloud cover at 93.3% and 26 cloudy days.
In fact, other cities that had more clouds than Seattle since January 23rd include; Philadelphia at 94.4%, Chicago at 95.6%, along with Indianapolis and New York at 97.8%.
Overall, the region has been particularly gloomy since January 23rd, with several cities getting only a brief glimpse—if any—of blue skies over the past 8 days.
The nebulous trend also appears in other parts of it Northeastern and Midwest, while not meeting or exceeding the Seattle cloud level.
Washington, had an average cloud cover of 88.9%, with seven January days of completely cloudy skies. Neighboring Baltimore had an average cloud cover of 85.6%, with six days of completely cloudy skies.
As February begins, so does the opportunity for sunshine for many Americans.
In Buffalo, clouds continue to prevail Thursday and Friday, but will give way to sunnier skies Saturday and Sunday. Then highs will be in the upper 30s and lows in the 20s.
Cloudy Cleveland will begin to see sunshine on Saturday as well. Like Buffalo, the city will see highs in the upper 30s and lows in the upper 20s.
Detroit will begin to see clear clouds starting Friday, and sunny skies will last through the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 30s on Friday and Saturday, then climb into the low 40s on Sunday.
The sun will begin to make an appearance in Philadelphia on Saturday with plenty of sunshine in the forecast for Sunday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s with lows in the upper 20s and lows in the 30s.

Chicago will see partially clearing skies on Friday. Sunshine will be more abundant Saturday and Sunday, and highs will be in the upper 30s and lows in the 30s.
A mix of sun and clouds is in store for Indianapolis on Friday. On Saturday, the city will see even more sunshine, along with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s.
New York will have morning showers on Friday, but will see plenty of sunshine Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low to mid 40s and lows in the low 30s.
In Washington, a mostly cloudy Friday will give way to a sunny weekend. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lows in the 50s, with lows in the 30s.
The weekend in Baltimore will also see plenty of sunshine. Highs will be in the low 50s and lows will be in the mid 30s.
