MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) — The Fiserv Forum doesn't just serve the basketball community in Milwaukee.
The buzz surrounding the Bucks continues with their playoff streak, but there's a lot more to the Bucks' home team than just an all-star team. Fiserv Forum is slowly but surely becoming a mecca for entertainment.
After opening its doors less than a year ago, it's no surprise that Fiserv has become a hit in the Milwaukee community.
“It's been really fun to see this really become a magnet for downtown Milwaukee,” said Director of Marketing for Fiserv Forum and the Milwaukee Bucks, Dustin Godsey.
Between Bucks and Marquette games, to Kiss and Travis Scott concerts, to being able to transform the venue into a monster truck venue and a rodeo… what more could you need?
“There's nothing we can't do in this building,” Godsey said.
Godsey says having an event space like Fiserv has allowed for more entertainment options than Milwaukee has ever had before.
“We already have 23 shows on the books for the year. The most local shows that have ever come to Milwaukee in one year was 18,” Godsey said.
The arena creates a destination for artists across the US
“We get a lot of these tours that would go from Chicago to Minneapolis that now make this stop in between,” Godsey said.
The fun and games extend beyond Fiserv into the deer area.
“This area that has really been nothing for the last two decades and to really have a vision and turn it into the newest neighborhood that Milwaukee has to offer is really special and rare,” Godsey said.
As a fully operational unit for around 200 days a year, more will soon be coming to enhance the area. Gosdey says there are hopes to host NCAA tournament games, the NBA all-star game and a college hockey tournament.
“I think it's just a sign of how we're thinking big and the impact it's going to have on the city moving forward,” Godsey said.
