The Missouri State Fair will feature several nights of big name entertainment along with a variety of great food, animal shows, carnivals and exhibits making it the largest family entertainment event in the area!
The Missouri State Fair is held for 11 days each August in Sedalia, Missouri. Around 350,000 visitors each year are attracted by daily concerts, large exhibitions, farm animal competitions, handmade crafts, performances and lots of delicious food. The highlight of the exhibition is the mule show, which has been held since the beginning of the 20th century. The showrooms are located at the intersection of West 16th Street (State Highway Y) and South Limit Avenue (US Highway 65).
The most popular entertainment at the Missouri State Fair is the concerts and grandstand events featuring country and popular music stars. The Championship Truck & Tractor Pull as well as the Monster Truck Show and Auto Racing also draw large crowds.
The history of the fair dates back to 1897 when some cattlemen's associations petitioned the Missouri General Assembly to establish a state fair. The first event took place in 1901. Its main feature was “the white city” consisting of tents for rent to the exhibitors. The Missouri State Fairgrounds Historic District is part of the National Register of Historic Places for its Art Deco, Mission Revival, and Romanesque Revival architecture.
