Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is recognized for its campus diversity and many undergraduate programs in US News & World Report's The 2022-2023 annual Best Colleges Rankings, published on Monday, September 12.
PNW ranks in the top 20 of Midwest regional universities for campus ethnic diversity. Among only public institutions, PNW ranked third. Enrollment data shows that PNW's undergraduate population is more than 25% Hispanic or Latino and nearly 11% Black or African American. The US news The category indicates the likelihood that students attending a university or college will meet other students from different ethnicities.
PNW also ranks among Midwest regional universities for social mobility, which measures how well Pell Grant recipients graduate from a university. PNW ranked 76th among these universities.
“Purdue Northwest's growing diversity is a point of pride for our institution,” said PNW Chancellor Thomas L. Keon. “PNW actively recruits and supports students from underserved populations and those who are first in their family to attend college. TRIO support services, the Office of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives and many scholarship opportunities are some of the many resources available to give them a well-rounded college experience.”
Highly ranked academic programs
PNW's School of Engineering is ranked 42nd nationally among engineering schools whose highest degrees are a bachelor's or master's degree. PNW moved up 11 spots from its spot in the 2021-2022 rankings.
PNW's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has been nationally ranked among the best undergraduate nursing programs. The university's computer science program was also nationally ranked among the best undergraduate computer science programs. This year's ranking is the second and third time in a row, respectively US News & World Report has rated nursing and informatics programs.

Best Engineering Programs
US news ranks undergraduate engineering programs accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that accredits university and college engineering programs. The US News rankings are based on surveys of deans and faculty members at peer institutions.
PNW earned a 3.2 peer review on a 5-point scale. The score went up from 2.9 in the 2021-2022 rankings. Other similarly ranked institutions include Bradley University, Gonzaga University, Grand Valley State University and Loyola University Chicago.
The best nursing programs
US news ranks BSN programs that are accredited by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Nursing Education. Rankings are based on polls of deans and faculty members at peer institutions. PNW earned a 3.2 peer review on a 5-point scale. Other similarly ranked institutions include the University of Arkansas, Ball State University, Western Michigan University, and West Virginia University.
The best regional universities and business schools
PNW was ranked among the top Midwest regional universities, earning a 2.8 peer review on a 5-point scale. PNW was additionally recognized among the best public Midwest regional universities.
PNW's College of Business has again been named among the top undergraduate business programs.
