The Social Democrat leader insists that getting Sláintecare right is key to solving health care access issues in the Midwest.
Holly Cairns made her comments ahead of a planned visit by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly and HSE Chief Executive Bernard Gloster to University Hospital Limerick today, although it is understood the pair attended the Midwest facility last night.
The Mid-West Hospital Campaign group are due to protest outside University Hospital Limerick from 10am this morning to coincide with the visit.
1,691 admitted patients were left waiting on trolleys at the district's main hospital in March, a 5% drop on the same month last year.
Speaking during a visit to Ennis where she met her party's local election candidates, Deputy Cairns claimed the lack of meaningful progress on UHL can be attributed to a “lack of political will” to get the mainstream health policy right of the goverment.
