WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Midwest Cover Crops Council (MCCC)a collaboration among researchers, extension personnel, farmers, agencies and industry to facilitate widespread adoption of cover crops throughout the Midwest, will host the 2024 Annual Meeting and Conference at Crowne Plaza Indianapolis-Airport on February 13-14. “This annual meeting and conference has been organized for MCCC since 2006 and it is important for growers, students, scientists and industry partners to come together to discuss current crop issues and their importance to sustainable agriculture,” said Anna Morrow, MCCC's Senior Program Director; “Not only does it provide opportunities for learning and networking, but it also provides access to resources to help those interested get started.”
The MCCC annual meeting, which will be held on February 13, is open to the public and will feature state and provincial reports summarizing crop research and activities throughout the Midwest. The first day concludes with a reception featuring a graduate student poster competition.
A keynote presentation by Robert Myers, director of the University of Missouri's Center for Regenerative and Sustainable Agriculture, regional director of Extension Programs, begins operations on February 14. There will also be a farmer panel and general session moderated by Barry Fisher, Indiana farmer and retired soil health specialist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Individual sessions will focus on the use of cover crops in field crops, pasture and specialty crops.
To attend both days, the cost per person is $75 until Friday (December 15) and $100 after. To participate on February 14th only, the early bird price is $60 per ticket and $85 after. Students can attend the conference free of charge. Prize money will be awarded to the winners of the graduate student poster competition. MCCC is still accepting exhibitors and sponsors for the conference.
