Freshman Haiden Diemer-McKinney and superior Reyes Thomas Both turned in career-best efforts at Thursday's Midwest Twilight Qualifier at Augustana College in efforts to advance to next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at the University of St. Louis. Thomas hit a career-best and school-record 52.23 meters (171 feet, 4 inches) for what would have been today's 13u-The best sign of the season. The top 22 points advance to the championship meet with the field of competitors to be announced on Friday 19 May.
Diemer-McKinney finished second in the 800 meters with a career-best time of 1:49.54. That time is currently the seventh fastest this season among Division III runners. Will Neubauer also competed in the 800 meters, finishing 20thu out of 45 competitors in the event with a time of 1:56.08.
Brayden Curnutt ran in the 1500m, finishing 15thu out of 47 runners with a time of 3:56.84.
Quinn Solar turned in a throw of 14.09 meters (46 ft, 2.75 in) to place 15u from 30 participations in shot put.
