The Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA) gathered today for its Annual Meeting at the Mazak Midwest Technology Center in Schaumburg, where it named a new President for 2023, setting a historic precedent within the association and the industry.
Nicole Wolter, President and CEO of HM Manufacturing in Wauconda, was named TMA president, becoming the first Latina to hold the role in the association's 98 years and one of the industry's only female association leaders nationally.
With a background in engineering and finance, Wolter joined HM Manufacturing in 2009, working in various departments including accounting, supply, sales and marketing. She earned a promotion to Vice President of Operations in 2015 and became President and CEO in 2017. Dedicated to advancing manufacturing and supporting the next generation of leaders, Wolter has served on the TMA Education Foundation Board and the boards of the National Association of Manufacturers and American Gear Manufacturers Association among others. It has also been recognized with several prestigious manufacturing and business awards.
“Nicole has been an outstanding leader in the industry and TMA members will benefit from her passion for manufacturing both here in Illinois and throughout the Midwest,” said TMA President Patrick Osborne. “I'm excited to work with her next year.”
Wolter hopes to be a voice for small and medium manufacturers, help create more opportunities for the next generation of manufacturers to learn and access the training they need, and show that women and Hispanics can have impressive and rewarding careers in manufacturing sector.
“I am honored to serve as TMA's new board chair and look forward to using the position to recruit more women, Latinas and minorities to our industry where there are so many opportunities for them,” said Wolter. “Over the past 10 years, I've not only been on TMA boards and committees, but I've completed TMA's education and training departments myself—becoming an expert on hand lathes and mills, even earning NIMS and CAD certifications. I have seen firsthand what this industry can offer and I am excited to now give back at the helm of this association.”
TMA chairs have a one-year term.
